Folkestone to Calais:  Sunday 29th July 2007 morning

This was the start of our journey into Europe, we got the Eurotunnel across from Folkestone to Calais. Prices vary depending on when you buy the ticket but we managed to get tickets for 75 return each. You can book your tickets with eurotunnel.

The journey across the channel takes 35 minutes, it's quick, smooth and was a very pleasant way to get across to Europe. You will need to remember that the clocks go forward an hour when you arrive into France, it's a bummer but it's worth it on the way back!

Calais to Meaux:  Sunday 29th July 2007 afternoon

We made the 180 mile run from Calais to Meaux, (several miles East of Paris), on the same afternoon we arrived at France. Our plan was to get across France as quick as possible to make the most of the scenic routes through Italy and Switzerland so we pretty much headed straight down the motorways.
